What To Do When Your Diet Isn't Working

So you wanted to get back in shape. Lose the gut and get your muscle definition back.

You've been at it for months but ...

No fat loss!!!

Everybody wants to look better but many get frustrated and stop when the results are slow or non-existent.

We beat ourselves up at the gym, abusing our bodies. We deprive ourselves of food, trying to force change.

Is it working?

My guess is probably not, and here’s the simple reason: we have this view that body fat is stored in our bodies because they hate us; they want to make us look bad, so we have to fight them.

But the reality is your body is simply protecting its assets.

If you are storing body fat on your body, it’s a sign that you are doing something that it doesn’t like, and it’s being forced to protect itself.

Fat Loss Preventers

  1. A congested liver

Is your liver overwhelmed? Are you exercising too much? Are drinking too much caffeine? Maybe you’re starting to sneak in some sugar for energy, or drinking alcohol to help you fall asleep at night. Do you wake up between 1:00 and 4:00 in the morning? Do you have trouble getting out of bed in the morning?

These are classic symptoms of a congested liver.

Your liver is the metabolic engine that burns fat. So, if it’s congested, you’re not going to lose fat, and you’re not going to get anywhere.

  1. Eating the wrong breakfast foods

If you have a big bowl of oatmeal, cereal or fruit for breakfast that will spike your insulin, you’re starting your day out with an inability to burn body fat.

  1. Not getting enough sleep

This is probably the most common roadblock to fat loss. We Americans are high achievers. We believe that you can’t get a full night’s sleep and be successful at the same time. If you believe that, and you live that way, there’s no way you’re ever getting lean. Your lack of sleep is blocking your ability to lose body fat.

  1. Hormonal imbalance

Are you storing body fat on your arms, chest, hips or thighs? Those are classic signs that your hormones are off. Maybe your estrogen is too high, or your progesterone and testosterone are too low. Stress can cause your body to be out of whack. Your solutions of abusing yourself at the gym and depriving yourself of foodare causing even more stress. You’re never going to win. You can’t beat stress with stress.

Three Simple Solutions

  1. Take a break from coffee for a week. When you start back up, alternated between coffee and green tea.
  2. Have a high-protein, low-carb breakfast with lots of healthy fats like coconut oil or avocado.
  3. Sleep a full eight hours per night!
